Welcome to America’s awe-inspiring west, where you’ll discover glamorous cities, Wild West towns, parched deserts and the iconic Route 66 as you travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
Day One - UK / Los Angeles
Depart on your scheduled flight to Los Angeles. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay in this exciting city.
Day Two - Los Angeles
Get to know more about LA’s many attractions this morning with our included city tour, featuring Hollywood, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, with its celebrity handprints, footprints, and autographs etched into the theatre’s concrete forecourt, and affluent Beverly Hills. In the afternoon, explore this buzzing metropolis at your own pace, or join an optional visit to Santa Monica, the end of the historic Route 66.
Day Three - San Diego
Begin your day in LA, where you can explore at your leisure or join an optional visit to Universal Studios – a thrilling theme park packed with movie memorabilia, big rides and exciting attractions. This afternoon, we drive to the seaport of San Diego for our two-night stay.
Day Four - San Diego
Your stay in San Diego starts with an included morning tour of this delightful Spanish-influenced city. Then spend the rest of your day enjoying the splendours of San Diego at your own pace – perhaps on a boat trip around the harbour, visiting Old San Diego or taking in a marine show at the renowned Sea World.
Day Five - Scottsdale
Drive through the spectacular desert, crossing the border at Yuma into the state of Arizona. Continue to the ‘Valley of the Sun’ and Scottsdale, a fashionable resort on the outskirts of Phoenix. There’s an optional visit to Rustler’s Rooste, a traditional western steakhouse, this evening.
Day Six - Flagstaff
We leave Scottsdale and drive into Northern Arizona, where our first stop is the fashionable artists’ township of Sedona. Join an optional jeep ride to admire the stunning rock formations that surround the town, or simply explore at your leisure.
We continue to the former Wild West town of Flagstaff, where we’ll be welcomed with a glass of Champagne. You’ll stay here for two nights.
Day Seven - Grand Canyon National Park
Today, we visit a natural wonder that’s a must-see on any traveller’s list: The Grand Canyon. This spectacular 14 mile-wide gorge is even more stunning when viewed from the air, which is why there’s the option to take a scenic flight over the Canyon if you wish. However you choose to view this vast, majestic panorama, you won’t be disappointed.
Day Eight - Las Vegas
Depart Flagstaff for the drive on Route 66 westwards to Las Vegas for a two-night stay. En route you’ll pass by the mighty Hoover Dam, a feat of 20th century construction.
Once in Las Vegas, take part in an included casino lesson at your hotel, where you’ll pick up some great tips.
This evening, why not join our optional Las Vegas by night tour to enjoy the lights and sights of this spectacular desert city.
Day Nine - Las vegas
Explore Las Vegas at your leisure today – an oasis of fun and sparkling nightlife. Visit the famous Strip, with its lavish hotels and casinos offering 24-hour entertainment. It has to be seen – and experienced – to be believed.
Day 10 - Selma
Today, you will be following in the footsteps of the early settlers as we drive through the arid landscape of the Mojave Desert, before crossing the border back into California for an overnight stay in Selma.
Day 11 - Yosemite National Park
Today you’ll travel north to the vast Yosemite National Park, with its abundance of waterfalls, lakes and dramatic mountain peaks. We will stop for lunch in the park before travelling on to San Francisco for a two-night stay.
Day 12 - San Francisco
San Francisco, the ‘city by the bay’, is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Home of the Golden Gate Bridge, street cable cars, Pier 39 and the buzzing Fisherman’s Wharf waterfront, it is a cosmopolitan city with a distinctly European flavour.
This morning, you will cross the Golden Gate Bridge and take in the breathtaking view from the city’s Twin Peaks, before visiting a host of other attractions including Golden Gate Park and Chinatown.
There’s plenty of time for shopping, too. San Francisco boasts an array of fantastic shopping destinations, including a branch of Macy’s that is a whole block in size. And of course, the famous cable cars are a great way of exploring the city.
Day 13 - San Francisco / UK
Today you’ll transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Immerse yourself in the traditions of the local Africans whose homes are open to visit as you stay in the heart of the bushveld. The Doubletree by Hilton Flagstaff boasts a lovely location near downtown Flagstaff.

Day 8 - 9: Tropicana Hotel - Las Vegas
Located on the Strip, you will stay at the Tropicana Hotel. Hotel facilities include restaurant, bar, casino and pool. Bedrooms have private facilities.
Day 10: Swan Court Holiday Inn Selma
The 3-star Holiday Inn Swan Court is situated in Selma.
Hotel facilities include a restuarant and a lounge. Bedrooms have private facilities, air-conditioning, hairdryer, complimentary wi-fi, tea/coffee-making facilities and a TV.
Day 11 - 12: Hotel Zephyr San Francisco
Hotel Zephyr is positioned in San Francisco's premier shopping, dining, and entertainment district; Fisherman's Wharf. Staying at the Hotel Zephyr makes it easy for you to explore the very best attractions of the San Francisco Bay Area. The hotel is one city block in size and is set between Beach Street and Jefferson Street on East-West Streets and between Mason and Powell Streets North-South. Guests can walk across the street to explore the world-famous Pier 39 to see the historic Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge in one seamless panoramic view. Or walk two blocks to catch a quick cable car ride to Union Square, North Beach, or Chinatown.
